What an amazing two months since I have last posted. We have experienced miracles of provision, miracles of healing and opportunity for greater service. Who says that life is only a coasting to the grave? With Jesus life is an adventure that never ends but culminates in an eternity far greater and more wonderful than words could ever describe. My love for Him has become richer and fuller. My hope in Him has broadened into greater awareness of His continued grace. My prayers for others to know Him, not just know about Him, has taken on a heightened dimension, that others might truly “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps.34:8).
There is a passage in 2 Samuel 23:11-12 that speaks of Shammah, the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a field of lentils and the people fled in fear. Yet Shammah positioned himself in the middle of the field and killed the Philistines. “The Lord brought about a great victory.”
How many times has fear caused us to shrink back in the face of what seems to be insurmountable obstacles or what appears to be overwhelming odds, not fully realizing that He is who for us is greater than any who is against us? How many times have we listened to the voices of the pundits who spew lies and half-truths, seeking to cause the believer to doubt the word of God or question its validity?
These are the days to stand fully in the authority that is ours in Christ, to take our place on the watchtowers of our faith, to stand firmly in the fields and not back away, regardless of what we see or hear. There is a battle for the souls of our families, of our children. Marriages are being redefined; sexuality twisted; children ripped from their mother’s wombs and all sanctioned by governments and other authorities. The lies of that ancient serpent in the Garden still seeks to cause doubt and fear.
Yet our faith and our trust is placed solely in the Christ who is both Lord and conquering Victor. He has not surrendered one iota, given one inch to the enemy. He will bring all things to His conclusion, where everyone will bow the knee. Until that day, we, the church must prepare ourselves to do spiritual battle, take our stand in His eternal truths and seek to win as many to Christ as we possibly can. The enemy has come to our doorsteps. We must not let him into our houses!
